Col Sarkar took up Homeopathy while in service in 1988. He does not have any formal degree but has successfully treated many relatives and acquaintances. He is in the process of writing a book titled "Homeopathy: Your Saviour Till You Can See a Doctor."
Col Sarkar has a kitchen garden on the terrace of his house. It was started with the aim of cooling the first floor. It produces pesticide free vegetables using mostly organic manure.
Col Sarkar comes from West Bengal. He joined the Corps of Engineers of the Army in April 1963 and took premature retirement as Colonel in 1991. He held many coveted appointments. He was awarded VSM and Chief of Staff’s Commendation Card for distinguished service. After retirement Col Sarkar worked in the construction industry as a consultant. He participated in the rehabilitation work after Latur Earthquake and in NHAI projects.
